ABOUT US

Timber Fans is based in Knysna (The historical home of the South African timber industry) and has been established for over 15 years. We are a small team that is fanatical about creating products that are both superbly engineered and beautifully designed items of decor to enhance your living spaces. All our handcrafted ceiling fans are certified by a master craftsman specialized in ventilation and air conditioning with over 50 years experience.

Timber Fans has pioneered the Classic Range self-ventilating motor hub by creating a suction gap between the motor and the hub. The fan motors therefore run at temperatures considerably lower than other comparable makes, thus ensuring the life spans of the motors are greatly extended. We have gone a step further in our quest for quality by discarding the standard bearings in all our motors and replacing them with aircraft-quality Swedish bearings to ensure even longer life and whisper-quiet performance. More recently, Timber fans has re-engineered the traditional timber fan blades to produce an ”Aeroglide blade” that delivers a performance improvement of over 20% compared to comparable timber-blades available in the market. We are now offering this technology at no additional cost across our product range.

All our fans are individually balanced and tested at extremely demanding tolerances, resulting in unrivalled, perfectly balanced and whisper-quiet fans that will give many years of reliable and carefree service.

Why use a Ceiling Fan?

Ceiling fans have countless benefits over air conditioning units or floor standing fans. As well as bringing energy saving benefits to your home or office, they are a happy meeting of the functional and the aesthetic. Timber Fans are South Africa’s finest hand-crafted paddle fans, and each is made to the customer’s own specifications. Our Classic range ceiling fans use less power than an 80 watt light bulb which is about 3% of the energy required to run an air conditioner.

For optimal performance, a ceiling fan should sit between 2.3 and 2.5m off the floor. In the summer months, ceiling fans offer the greatest energy saving benefits by lowering the “felt-temperature” in a room, and in winter they help to circulate the warm air that rises to the ceiling, thereby preventing all the warm air from being trapped in the ceiling area.

Each fan from Timber Fans has been individually hand built and tested for perfect balance and whisper quiet performance. Each is a statement of classical design and elegance that will complement the decor of your living spaces.
